Visit Kelso is a volunteer-run organisation whose aim is to promote Kelso and the surrounding area to a diverse range of people including locals to the town, people from the wider Scottish Borders, day-visitors and tourists to Scotland and the north of England.
Following the closure of the local Tourist Information Centre, and the loss of the town map, Visit Kelso agreed they should take on the responsibility of producing and distributing a new map.
We managed all aspects of the Visit Kelso map project including: writing and submitting the application for funding, working with the group of volunteers to agree on the style and content, sourcing and managing the creative team (copywriter, graphic designer and illustrator) who produced the map and pop up banners and managing the print procurement.
The bespoke map was hugely well-received, and in addition to thousands of copies being widely distributed, the group have received many requests for more items to make use of the beautiful illustrations.
“Not only did Emily encourage us to submit an application to Scottish Borders Council for funding for this project, but she also wrote the application and managed the entire project end to end. As a group of volunteers, who all manage our own businesses, we simply would not have had the time to do any of this. As a result, we now have a beautiful map that is as unique as our town itself.”Tina Newton, Chairperson of Visit Kelso
